Air Purifiers – Studio unit
Our air purification units utilize active photocatalytic oxidation technology (PCO) in which UV light activates a PCO coated honeycomb structure. Our PCO air purifiers units do not rely on air passing through the unit, but actively disperse air cleaning molecules into the surrounding environment. The PCO air treatment system unit actively outputs a continuous stream of multi-clustered ions which attack and destroy contaminants and pathogens throughout the indoor environment. The process is known as active photocatalytic oxidation and it’s safe for both humans and animals. Our PCO air purification substantially reduces viruses, bacteria, odors, smoke, and mold both in the air, as well as on surfaces, which is something that passive air treatment devices, like HEPA filters and passive UV lamps, cannot do. The UV light activates the coating to create molecules capable of decomposing pathogens, nitrous oxides (NOx), carbon monoxide (CO), allergens, odors, and other volatile organic compounds (VOCs) such as formaldehyde and benzene.

The 307 studio unit is a small, lightweight, stand-alone PCO air purifier that can be used at home or easily taken on the go to provide air and surface cleaning at work, in the office, or on travel. Ideal for use in small rooms, studios, apartments, hotels, cruise ships, and more. This active air purifier utilizes PCO technology in combination with three other advanced technologies to clean indoor air.
First, an electrostatic filter keeps the device clean. Second, needlepoint ionization filters particles by clumping smaller particles together. The next technology uses activated oxygen to breakdown mold, bacteria, and other biological contaminants. The PCO technology performs a similar cleaning to the activated oxygen, but on the molecular level.
Adjustable treatment control, 250 to 1500 square feet. The AWAY option allows for an intensified cleaning cycle while no occupants are in the room.
Coverage: up to 1,500 ft2
To stay healthy, we pay close attention to what is in the food we eat and the water we drink, but why not the quality of the air we breathe? It’s often an afterthought, but the air we breathe both indoors and out can directly impact our health, quality of life, and state of mind. In today’s increasingly congested communities, the quality of our air is becoming a rising concern. What’s more, is that the quality of the air INSIDE your home or office is often worse than the air outside.
Poor indoor air quality can lead to an increased occurrence of respiratory problems like allergies, asthma, or COPD. Many triggers can be lurking in the home; the bathroom can harbor mold and mildew; the living room can have animal hair, dust, dander, or smoke; and your bedroom could be contaminated with VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) from furniture, household cleaners, paint, carpet, air fresheners, and perfumes.
Fortunately, our CO air purifiers can help drastically reduce these health risks through state-of-the-art active photocatalytic oxidation technology (PCO). Rather than just relying on air passing through the unit as most air purifiers do, our PCO air purifiers actively disperse air cleaning molecules into the surrounding environment to attack and destroy contaminants and toxins throughout your home, office, and even car.
Our air purifiers are safe for use around people and pets. Use our air purifiers to rid your home of viruses, bacteria, allergens, odors, and other volatile organic compounds (VOCs) such as formaldehyde and benzene.
Research has shown that when air quality is improved, the overall quality of life increases through higher productivity, fewer sick days, and sharper focus. Protect the air we breathe inside our home, workspaces, and other, more public locations to minimize the risk of potential widespread illnesses. Take a deep breath and see what makes our PCO units a good choice for cleaner indoor air.

Norwalk Virus –This virus is a Norovirus. Noroviridae is a group of related, single-stranded RNA, highly contagious infections and the most common cause of acute gastroenteritis in the United States. Known by other names such as stomach flu and food poisoning, it is responsible for 50% of food-borne outbreaks of gastroenteritis. Noroviruses spread from person to person by direct contact, touching contaminated surfaces, and contaminated food and water supplies.(12)
The effectiveness of Photocatalytic Oxidation Technology: Deactivation of > 90% of Murine Norovirus (MNV) microorganisms were achieved after 4 hours.(13)
H1N1 Virus (Swine Influenza) – The H1N1 virus is a unique strain of influenza. The Centers for Disease Control determined that the pressure contained genes from four different flu viruses – North American swine influenza, North American avian influenza, human influenza, and swine influenza viruses typically found in Asia and Europe. The virus spreads from person to person by droplets from coughing and sneezing and by touching a person contaminated with the virus, then rubbing one’s eyes, nose or mouth.(14)
The effectiveness of Photocatalytic Oxidation Technology: Testing on stainless steel surfaces using PCO resulted in ~ 99% microbial reductions.(3)
H5N1 Virus Avian Influenza (Bird Flu) – H5N1 has evolved into a flu virus strain that infects more species than any previously known strain, is deadlier than any formerly known strain, and continues to grow, becoming both more widespread and more deadly. Epidemiologists are afraid the next time such a virus mutates; it could pass from human to human. Direct transmission of avian viruses to humans is possible. Testing of photocatalysis on H5N1 was completed at Kansas State University using H5N8 as a surrogate.(15)
The effectiveness of Photocatalytic Oxidation Technology: Testing on stainless steel surfaces using PCO resulted in ~ 99% microbial reductions.(11, 13)
How It Works
Our active air purification units employ a proprietary enhancement to the established photocatalytic oxidation (PCO) technology developed more than 20 years ago. This advanced product: Active Photodynamic Oxidation Technology is the foundation of our air purification instruments currently being used to disinfect indoor air and surfaces. gas-phase PCO has been proven to kill many bacteria, viruses, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), molds, fungus, and odors wherever they reside. This is in contrast to some air only purification systems dependent upon airflow passing through the unit or through filters. gas-phase PCO technology has been proven both safe and effective in laboratory and industrial testing. PCO technology, similar to that used in our air purifier products, has been licensed for use in medical, food, military, residential, commercial, marine, and hospital applications. They have been approved or registered by UL, ETL, FCC, TUV, CE, and CSA. NASA uses gas-phase PCO technology on the International Space Station.
Active Photocatalytic Oxidation Technology is licensed for use in over 1 million individual devices globally in the medical, food retailing, military, beauty, residential, commercial, marine, and hospitality industries. Gas-phase PCO Devices have been specified in the Norovirus and MRSA protection plan for some of America’s largest restaurant franchises, hotel chains, theme parks, cruise lines, public schools, and hospitals. Away from Earth, gas-phase PCO employing instrumentation is deployed aboard the International Space Station.
The heart of our air purifiers is a low wattage UV light bulb enclosed in a solid structure (the “catalyst”) coated with Titanium Dioxide and other nanoscale elements. When the UV light is turned on, the catalyst is irradiated, and a gaseous state is then created directly above its surface (often called “metastate”). As air passes over the metastate, large clusters of positively and negatively charged ions are formed. As these ion clusters are released into an interior environment, they can be attracted to a negatively or positively charged cell of a pathogen (virus or bacteria), and they can breakdown chemicals such as volatile organic compounds (VOCs). For pathogens, a minute electrical charge is then released, piercing the cell of the pathogen and killing it, even a cell as small as a virus. For VOCs, the multi-clustered ions chemically transform the VOC into carbon dioxide and water vapor. Our active air purification units increased the effectiveness of its PCO process by its unique configuration and catalyst design.
Our air purification systems have further enhanced the microbial-killing effectiveness and efficiency of the original technology by more than 50%. Unlike other Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Systems (i.e., HEPA filtration, Germicidal UV, UV Robots, Negative Ionizers, Ozonators), our air purification systems destroy microbes in the air, on surfaces, and in crevices, on a continual basis, with a technology that is safe for humans and animals.
Indoor Air Quality
Considering that the average American now spends 90% of their time inside, indoor air pollution is considered by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to be a major environmental health problem. Today’s tightly sealed, energy efficient buildings and homes do keep utility costs down but seal in pollutants and pathogens which cause odor, mold and illness as well as allergies.
As the EPA states:
“The quality of indoor air inside offices, schools, and other workplaces is important not only for workers’ comfort but also for their health. Poor indoor air quality (IAQ) has been tied to symptoms like headaches, fatigue, trouble concentrating, and irritation of the eyes, nose, throat, and lungs.”

The Ux307 is scalable, allowing the user to select the amount of output desired for the bio‐load and size of the space to be treated. The “Away Mode” setting allows for quick sanitization of heavy bio‐load in an unoccupied area. A programmable timer will automatically turn off the Ux307. The auto‐shutoff defaults to a maximum run time of 2 hours and can be changed for shorter times.
The Ux307 utilizes four advanced technologies to treat indoor air. First, the Ux307 uses an electrostatic filter to help keep the device clean while also filtering out particles which clump together thanks to the second technology in the Ux307, needlepoint ionization. This generates a stream of millions of ions which bond to particles of dust, dander, bacteria and viruses causing them to clump. This makes it easier for them to be pulled though the area’s HVAC filtration or causes them to simply fall to the floor where they are vacuumed up during routine cleaning. The third technology in the Ux307 is the generation of scalable activated oxygen which will break down mold, bacteria, and other biological contaminants which cause odors. Additionally, the Ux307 utilizes an active PCO technology that produces a cleansing plasma that actively breaks down pathogens, odors and mold in the treated area. Active PCO technology is a molecular disassociation process which doesn’t just cover up the source of odors; it actually breaks the source down on a molecular level.

This is an active technology. Air need not pass through the unit—or within inches of the device, as is the case with traditional UV devices. With our air purification systems, microbes are destroyed throughout the target environment, wherever they are, whether in the air, on surfaces, or in crevices. Since the PCO products are safe for both humans and animals, it provides continuous protection from pathogens on a 7X24 basis.
The core technology for our air purification systems has been proven through more than 10,000 hours of independent laboratory and university testing and validation. This technology is in use in residential, clinical, and commercial buildings in many countries, and has been used by NASA on the International Space Station to protect the astronauts.
The Ux 105 effectively cleanses an indoor environment up to 5,000 square feet depending upon the pathogen 'load' that is present.
The Ux 105 unit plugs into a standard 110v outlet and uses the same amount of energy as a 25W light bulb. The maintenance costs (the bulb should be replaced every 3 years) plus electrical costs over a three-year period are approximately $150. In comparison, the typical HEPA filter replacement costs and electrical costs over the same period is substantially more, and the filter will not kill the pathogens, and its disposal presents environmental concerns.
Because they destroy individual microbials and the reservoirs in which they multiply, our air purification instruments break not one but two of the critical links in the “chain of infection” cited in Joint Commission infection-control guidelines. Indoor air quality is a priority of both the Occupational Safety, Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Among the contaminants of concern, both cite are viruses, bacterium, mold spores, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs)—those specifically targeted by our air purification technology.
Laboratory and onsite testing confirms a cleansing period from just 20 minutes to 12 hours depending upon the carrying capacity(bio load). Factors affecting the total time may include temperature and the degree of humidity in the air.
Because air need not pass through the unit to be treated, the PCO Air Purifier operates effectively whether freestanding, wall-mounted, or within an HVAC duct, and can be placed anywhere within the indoor environment.
Within 20 minutes, the instrument begins cleansing the air of viruses, bacterium, mold spores, volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and other contaminants.
PCO technology breaks the first two “links” in the “chain of infection” identified by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Specifically, the photocatalytic oxidation process destroys both the pathogen and the pathogenic reservoir—the place where the microbial lives and grows.
In terms of performance, the technology has been proven more than 99% effective in killing microbial populations. In terms of longevity, the entire unit is warranted for two full years.
