Driving during a heavy rainstorm or snowstorm requires extra concentration, patience, and as much visibility as possible. Even with the best windshield wipers, rain, snow, and ice can manage to limit visibility during the worst conditions, making an already dangerous driving situation even worse. WeatherOff™ offers an easy solution to repel rain, sleet, snow, and ice from your car, boat, RV, and more.

WeatherOff™ is a super water-repellent, non-stick nanocoating designed for use on surfaces that are exposed to rain, sleet, snow, and ice. Its patent-pending formula creates an invisible barrier between a surface such as your car’s windshield and moisture, causing snow and rain to simply bead off while greatly reducing the potential for ice buildup in wintry weather. Our nanocoating solution can also be used on a wide range of materials, including plastic, metal, and painted surfaces.

Non-toxic and environmentally friendly, consider applying WeatherOff™ to your child’s outdoor playset to shorten the wait time between a sudden rainstorm and playtime. Use also on patios, bridges, stairways, decks, and more to reduce the potential for ice buildup and possible slip hazards. Application is easy – simply spray on and let cure for lasting protection. Consider also using WeatherOff™ on radars, satellite dishes, antenna arrays, windmills, exterior plane components, and recreational equipment.

The following graph compares the contact angles during heavy rain exposure of the Super Hydrophobic Coating, Boyd Coatings Research’s “Liquid Teflon”, Channel Master’s Jones-Blair coating, and Prodelin’s “Super-Hydrophobic” coating. Panels were exposed to the equivalent of 10 years equatorial sun from a 400W low-pressure mercury lamp with a parabolic aluminum reflector at a distance of 8 inches from the focal point. Panels were then exposed to scattered droplets from a high-velocity water stream impacting a smooth plastic surface at 45°. The scattered droplets have a drop size distribution similar to heavy rain, reaching the test panels at a rate of 10 inches per hour. The Prodelin, Channel Master, and Boyd panels all had contact angles below 90° and uniform water filming after the first few hours of the rain challenge. Our Super Hydrophobic Coating exhibited no significant loss of contact angle after 240 hours and 2400 inches of rain. In subsequent tests, the Super Hydrophobic Coating had 145° contact angles after exposure to extreme rain at 60 inches/hour for one hour.
